Gong Xi Fa Cai : Chinese New Year
In 2008 (year 4706 on the Chinese calendar - Wu Zhi) Chinese New Years falls on 7th February 2008. Celebrations start on the eve of the new moon and end 15 days later with the full moon lantern festival.
In my country ‘Indonesian’ Chinese New Year celebrate by Chinese ethnics, usually they celebrate by giving money ‘Angpao’ to their family and friend. Chinese New Year is also an occasion to witness some extraordinary display of fireworks. It is believed that bursting of crackers can chase away the mythical monster, Nian, which once terrorized the people of China. Lion dance is also one of the most revered traditions of the festivities.
